Statement:
“In my visual research, I am motivated by the life pulsating in the undercarriage of our environment. On the surface of the painting, it is the footprint of mankind. It serves as a fossil of a species of life that burnt itself out and left behind a trail of detritus from man’s bad stewardship. The underlayers of the painting serve as the dwelling of the life that survived mankind. It is mutated and healing itself as it was pushed deeper into the surface of the Earth but has still fights to emerge from the surface. Formally, these pieces are both spatial and topographical cross section of space.
In my process I utilize both ancient and contemporary media. I start my process utilizing wood and 3D resin printing. I am drawn to the malleability and physicality of wood. I am also drawing to the process and infinite possibilities of 3D printing. I further modify the form with encaustics. Encaustics allow me to add and subtract to modify the form above and below the surface.”
