Statement:
In her figurative paintings, Valentina Andrees explores the various characteristics of humankind. Sensitivity, wildness, eroticism, romanticism, weakness, and the thirst for power are illustrated through added depictions from the animal world. The desire for appropriation and transformation is also addressed. Some of her works depict intimate connections between animals and humans. This process is closely linked to the theme of self-realization.
Valentina’s paintings are characterized by an enormous dynamism of colors and forms. Personal feelings and thoughts merge in her colorful, realistic compositions. In doing so, the artist creates analogies to reality by constructing fictional parallel worlds from what she sees. This creates constellations of humans and animals with a photorealistic aesthetic. The precision and cleanliness of her working method renders every detail with great precision. With extraordinary intensity, vitality, and technical clarity, she imbues her works with a mysterious and multi-layered essence.
