Biography:
Nikoloz Meskhishvili is a multidisciplinary artist born on November 23, 1980, in Tbilisi, Georgia. His creative path is shaped by a rich blend of cultures, disciplines, and lived experiences. From a young age, he was immersed in Georgian folklore, performing with the National Folk group – where music and movement sparked his lifelong passion for storytelling. Alongside performance, he quietly explored painting, creating abstract works during his school years that still hold personal meaning.
Before formally studying Fine Art, Meskhishvili painted on its spare time in the Netherlands, where his early work were sold on Queen’s Day. He later earned a Master’s degree in Fine Art and studied web design, service management, and business—developing a practice that merges traditional expression with contemporary design and innovation.

His academic and artistic research includes a visual ethnography on Texel Island in the Netherlands, blending photography and video to explore memory, dark tourism, and identity. This work was featured in his academic publication at the 9th International Silk Road Symposium.
He has also contributed to sustainability-focused projects like Managing Climate Change, and presented environmental research on the Black Sea’s ecological situation at the Students Regional Science Conference. Statement:
“At the heart of my work is Crushed Art – a technique where the canvas is no longer flat but folded, bent, reshaped. Just like life, it carries layers, scars, and movement,” Meskhishvili shares. “Nothing in this world is smooth—so art, too, must reflect its depth and imperfections.”
Driven by a desire to push boundaries, his works spill beyond the frame – bridging creativity with design, and emotion. His art lives not just on walls, but within space—transforming environments into stories. Whether crushed or whole, his canvases invite viewers to look deeper, find meaning in the folds, and see beauty in what lies beneath.
