Statement:

“My work emerges from an intimate dialogue between instinct and restraint, where painting becomes both a record and a release of lived emotion. Through sweeping gestures, layered textures, and moments of rupture and stillness, I approach the canvas as psychological terrain rather than a mere static image. Color functions not descriptively but viscerally — carrying the weight of memory, longing, anger, and transformation. Each composition resists resolution, instead holding tension between control and surrender, reflecting the unstable, dynamic, nonlinear nature of feeling and emotion.
Rooted in the evolving experience of female self discovery, my work examines identity as something continually constructed, evolved, fractured, and reclaimed. My paintings trace cycles of vulnerability and control, exploring themes of bodily awareness, inner voice, and the negotiation between societal expectations and individual truth. Rather than illustrating specific narratives, my work invites viewers into an emotional field— a space where the act of viewing becomes a parallel journey of introspection, mirroring my own search for wholeness”.

Yulia Shautsukova

Biography:

Yulia Shautsukova is a Russian artist who has lived and worked in Hong Kong for the last 15 years. Born in Moscow in 1977, Yulia Shautsukova has developed a deep interest in painting since childhood. She studied art at the Crimean University of Art and further studied at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow. Yulia travels widely around the world to search for new colours and inspirations. Her paintings are collected by art lovers from many different countries.
Yulia Shautsukova regularly participates of International Art Shows
and the Russian Culture Festival in Hong Kong.

Yuho Chang

Biography:

Yuho’s paintings are amongst a wide variety of visual art, from abstracts to inks, her versatility as a creator truly shines in the diversity of styles. All of her pieces are different and unique in their own way, but they all stem from the same passionate hands that created them in the first place. Each painting features bold colors to convey and evoke a sense of emotion. Some may incorporate many colors, while a few may not, but they all carry a story that is painted across the canvas. Yuho wishes to spread this sense of passion and creativity into the world, while also inspiring many minds across the nation to do what they love. No matter one’s age, creed, or race, anyone can do anything they put their mind to. Everyone is extraordinary and their art will be too.
She born in Hong Kong, Yuho has also lived on both planes of the globe. Having spent time in Tokyo, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, she has garnered a global multicultural perspective, allowing her to implement many different cultural components into her art. Following in her mother’s footsteps as an art fanatic, Yuho chose to start her career as a jewelry designer before transitioning into a painter. In doing so, she discovered that creating art came naturally to her, and decided to pursue it further. Yuho places no boundaries for herself and will always think outside of the box. Thus, she uses many different mediums for her art that includes and isn’t limited to mixed
media, abstract, fluid paintings, etc. Having studied at The Art Students League of New York, Yuho’s desire to continue learning and drive to continue creating will never stop, forever looking for new things to inspire her.

Statement:

“I’m Yuho, an artist based in Los Angeles, New York and Hong Kong. While my work is best described as abstract, I primarily draw inspiration from the Earth’s beautiful natural resources as well as its
landscapes. My choice of tools often involves working with ink and acrylic as both mediums flow graciously and lusciously, helping me achieve my vision. Additionally, coming from a jewelry background,
which requires a great deal of imagination and creativity, I’ve been able to transfer those skills to my work as an artist. I have found it easier to visualize my painting’s setting, placement, color tones, and orientation before my paintbrush hits the canvas.
After spending years designing jewelry pieces, I’ve found myself increasingly drawn to sparkle and sophistication. As such, when I paint, I look for bold colors to emit feelings of passion, freedom, and positive energy. To me, it’s most important to focus on formal color relationships and visual composition”.

Zbigniew Grzyb

Biography:

Zbigniew Grzyb was born in Poland in 1943 and earned his master’s degree at the Academy of Fine Art in Kraków. A Pollack Krasner Foundation grant recipient, his work has been shown in solo exhibitions at museums and galleries including the National Museum in Poland, The Cooley Gallery in Old Lyme, CT, and the New Britain Museum of American Art. His work is included in the Connecticut Artists Collection and The William Benton Museum of Art, among other public and private collections.

Statement:

“I paint because I must. Painting is my life; everything else is secondary. Process is the most important part of my painting. Through the process, you can see the art.

When painting, you have to be humble enough to respect your subconscious. The most sophisticated thing in the human brain is being humble to the unknown. When you start thinking rationally or reasoning you are further away from painting. Trust yourself and things will come to you at the right moment. An artist’s strength lies in respecting the mystery of creation. I believe the painting exists before I put paint to canvas. It’s my job to bring it to life”.

Mark Safan

Biography:

Born in Los Angeles in 1951, Mark Safan studied painting at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He continued his studies at the San Francisco Art Institute mentored by painter/instructor Sam Tchakalian. Later he studied at the Vancouver School of Art.
Wooed back to LA in the mid-1970’s he began his professional career as a
musician in Los Angeles recording for Warner Bros. Records and Elektra/ Asylum/ Planet Records while writing songs popularized by various recording artists. He also lent his voice to current movie soundtracks.
Moving to New York City in 1985 his work was introduced to the Galeriebrockstedt
where he began exhibiting as a gallery artist.

Exhibitions & Art Fairs:

Mark Safan’s Exhibitions included one person
shows at Galeriebrockstedt, Hamburg (1993) and Berlin (1993, 2003), as well as
one person shows at Köln Messe and Messe Düsseldorf (1993) and Galerie Kolon
(1993). In 1995 he received a grant as artist-in residence at Atelierhaus Pankow, Pankow, Berlin, including a one man show “Die Wolkin Hängen Schwer am Himmel:
Mark Safan’s Clouds”, 1995.

Exhibitions in New York include: “Abstract Eight”, 55 Mercer Gallery, 1995; “This Mess We’re In: Reflections on the Metropolis”, Pelavin Gallery, 2010, “A Field Guide to Getting Lost”, Pelavin Gallery, 2011, and “In Sight: Bruce Edelstein, Mark Safan, Fulvio Testa”, Terrazzo Art Projects, 2014, and Horizon Line, curated by David Humphrey and Susan Jennings, 2023. Statement:

The paintings of Mark Safan represent the fortuitous mingling and occasional accord between the ephemeral and the material. Blue atmospheric skeins stand in sharp contrast to shards of distressed cardboard; while the one offers solace in a blue dream of illusion, the other insists on the fact, remaining, however, abstract and mute.

Lisa Ingram

Biography:

Lisa Ingram is an abstract oil painter who lives and works in Manhattan. She received her BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York. Earlier, she also trained at Instituto Lorenzo De’ Medici in Florence, Italy.
Originally from Virginia, her paintings have an organic quality of nature and water. As a youth, Ingram was a competitive springboard diver, and the elements of water resonate throughout most series of her works. This athletic discipline in her youth has helped her to maintain self-discipline
and drive throughout her artistic practice.
In the 1990s, Ingram got a painting studio at SoHo Studio Center and became a part of the SoHo art community in downtown Manhattan. She exhibited extensively in NYC group shows and solo exhibitions, including 55
Mercer Gallery, Fusion Arts Museum, Markel/Sears Works on Paper, 450 Broadway Gallery, Blondies Contemporary Art Gallery, Gallery 313, and The Lee Kohns Cultural Arts Center.
In the 2000s, Ingram was awarded a studio in Harlem by the Chashama
Organization. Her exhibitions increased throughout the USA and overseas, including Margaret Lipworth Fine Art, Boca Raton, FL; Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, IA; Center for the Performing Arts, Rutherford, NJ; Center Street Gallery in Manassas, VA; Wetherholt Galleries in Washington DC; Nova Zembla Gallery in Hertogenbosch, Holland; and SoHo Myriad Galleries
in Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
On completion of the Chashama studio award, Ingram’s studio moved to
Brooklyn, where she painted, exhibited, and collaborated on projects with Hot Wood Arts Studios and Exhibition Center.
She eventually moved her studio back to the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where she lives and works today.

Emily Berger

Biography:

Emily Berger lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of Brown University, she received an MFA in painting from Columbia University, attended the Skowhegan School in Maine and has been awarded several residency fellowships, including from Millay Arts. She is a recipient of the John Hultberg Memorial Prize in Painting from The National Academy Museum. Her work has been exhibited widely and reviewed in numerous publications such as The Hudson Review, Two Coats of Paint, Hyperallergic, and The Boston Globe. She is included in many private and public collections.

Solo exhibitions have been presented at Starr Suites, TenBerke Architects, Walter Wickiser Gallery, Norte Maar, Scholes Street Studio, and The Painting Center, all in New York City. Recent exhibitions also include both Conversations and Cross Currents at Helm Contemporary; PLAYLIST, at One GAP Gallery; Form and Intent at Abstract Project in Paris; 11 Women of Spirit at Zurcher Gallery; and Side to Side, Three Ways at Key Projects, reviewed by Karen Wilkin in the Hudson Review. Berger is a member of American Abstract Artists and has been included in many AAA exhibitions such as Blurring Boundaries: The Women of American Abstract Artists, 1936-Present, On Balance, and The Onward of Art.

Statement:

¨I approach my paintings like writing or music, making deliberate and improvisatory marks with rests and breaks along the way. The vertical format is like a page for notation and also mirrors the body, inviting the viewer to experience the painting as if in conversation. As I paint, my hand stops and stutters, making a variety of marks, pulses and intervals in a mix of rhythms, texture, and color, creating various kinds of space and light. The wood panels I paint on provide a warm, tactile and patterned ground on which to begin. I choose scale, color, squeegees, brushes and other tools, painting with oil in a primarily horizontal, sometimes vertical motion – layering, revising and reconsidering as I go; a malleable grid provides a loose structure for me. I select the colors and structure of the work, but with each pass, the unpredictable emerges. My intuitive response to these changes guides the painting’s evolution; chance and control are both at play. Variation and surprise, freedom within the structure of repetitive movement and mark making are the key elements of my work; they work as a way to combine and resolve the analytical and the emotional, the conscious and the unconscious, the rational and irrational. Within the limitations of the rectangle there is infinite room.¨

Robin Feld

Biography:

Robin Feld’s work synthesizes the movement, flow, energy and geometry obtained through external and
internal observation. Her work references 1950s abstraction as seen through the lens of contemporary landscape painting and personal vision. More specifically, Feld looks to the crisscrossing and tangles found in nature, the juxtapositions of line, shape, and form and the geometry it generates, as a structural jumping off point for working with balance, motion and fluidity within the framework of a two-dimensional surface.

Feld uses observational watercolor sketches, photography and automatic drawing as source material. Through the abandon of the big sweeping gesture or the bucket of poured paint coupled with more intimate calligraphic marks and descriptive line she seeks to evoke the sensation of being human in nature.
Feld works out of her studio in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been shown at the Painting Center in New York, Drawing Rooms in Jersey City, Kent State University, Curate NYC, Art Fair 14C, Paramount Gallery at LIU, and the Monmouth Museum. She was featured in Jason McCoy Gallery’s online Drawing Challenges XV & XVI. Feld attended the High School of Music and Art (LaGuardia High School) in Manhattan, received her BFA at the City College of New York, and studied at the Art Students League.

Statement:

¨As an abstract painter I am interested in what happens in the world of a painting when serenity is invaded by a chaotic jumble of randomness.

There is a moment, or a series of moments that are pivotal in the creation of a painting… perhaps the same can be said, in the creation or living of a life. To differing degrees, we go along in our grids, in our bands of color, but inevitably, the unexpected happens and there is nothing to be done but cope as best we can.
In that spirit I am pouring, scraping and blotting paint, creating a kind of managed chaos. After the rush of adrenaline subsides, it is then my job to meditate on the results and work with them until the painting feels “right.” I want the marks on the canvas to talk to each other, for the layers to interact, for the process of how the painting was built to be apparent.

Abstract expressionism, Japanese and Chinese landscape painting, calligraphic marks/language from all over the world, as well as the daily influx of digital imagery – from art to advertisements, are strong influences on my painting as are the grids and jumbles of Manhattan and Brooklyn and the line, shape, color and form that I “collect” while working with watercolor outdoors¨.

Robert Melzmuf

Biography:

Robert Melzmuf was born in Middletown Connecticut in 1960 and attended the Hartford Art School and Southern Connecticut State University, upon graduating he worked at the New Britain Museum of American Art. In 1991 he moved to New York where he continues to paint while working for art galleries. In 2002 he was awarded a residency to the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson Vermont. He is in collections throughout the United States and Europe including the Cupelouzos Museum in Athens Greece. Since 2018 he has participated in five art festivals in Provence France.

Exhibitions & Art Fairs:

Melzmuf has shown in galleries around the United States, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington DC and New Haven and at Aqua Art Fair in Miami. His solo shows in New York were at Giacobetti Paul, 55 Mercer, Industrious Brooklyn, and 2/20 galleries; in France at Gallerie du Festival in Rocquebrune-sur-Argens; in group shows in New York at Galerie Makowski, Thomas Vandyke Gallery, Pace Gallery, Sideshow, Calico, and Barbara Greene Gallery, in Bargemon France at Beddington Fine Arts. His studio is at the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn.

Statement:

“My interest is in apainterly colorfield abstraction. I want my work to be spacious, airy, and calm; with simple and direct compositions that are gestural and clearly marked by my hand. The goal is to make beautiful paintings that engage the viewer; paintings that someone would want to live with.

So painterly, of the hand, but depicting a volume of space, which seems counter intuitive but I also see this in the paintings of Jules Olitzky, Mark Rothko, Friedel Dzubas, Larry Poons, and Richard Diebenkorn; a similar feel for abstract compositions of space with a painterly sensibility. I couldn’t make these paintings without the context of the Colorfield abstract painters; they opened the door.

Currently I’m mostly working in a theme of framing a volume [or field] of space from above and below. I build the paintings slowly, glazing layers of oil paint and cold wax to create a richly textured surface with nuanced colors. The depth of the glazes enhance the feeling of space that otherwise might be a flat field of color.

When it is all together gestural, airy, and spacious the paintings become calm, elegant, and beautiful; at least I try”.

Wei Xue

Biography:

Wei Xue, known artistically as April Xue, was born in 1969 in Northwest China. The vast and breathtaking landscapes of he homeland have been a profound source of inspiration throughout her life. After relocating to the United States in 1994, the awe-inspiring beauty of the Grand Canyon and the vibrant parks surrounding her Long Island home further shaped her artistic vision.
Despite holding degrees in mechanical engineering and computer science from Beijing University of Chemical Technology and institutions in New York, April’s true passion lies in the world of fine art. Under the mentorship of renowned artist Huang Yanbo, she developed a
distinctive style that seamlessly combines the poetic sensibilities of the East with the bold, vibrant colors of Western art.

Exhibitions & Art Fairs:

Exhibitions and Recognitionn April Xue’s work has garnered international acclaim, with notable exhibitions at Art Expo New York (2023, 2024), a solo exhibition at the Mora International Art Museum (2023), and the Haegumgang Theme Museum in South Korea (2023). Her art was recently featured at Art on Paper and the Hamptons Fine Art Fair (2024). showcases include Context Art Miami and Aqua Art Miami.

April was also featured in the May 2024 edition of Art Market Magazine and honored with an exclusive interview in GOLD LIST 8, where she was named one of the most outstanding contemporary artists of 2024. Her work is part of numerous private collections worldwide.
