Galerie Makowski invites submissions for a group art show in Tribeca, New York.

 

The gallery aims to support young artists and provide them with an opportunity to show their work in the new art district of Manhattan for an exclusive 3-day show.

 

Galerie Makowski was opened in December 2012 founded by Rusa Makowski in Berlin.

The gallery focuses on international contemporary art.The artworks presented are both by established artists, as well as new talent. One of the great goals of the gallery is to discover young artists and to offer them a platform on which they can show their diversity and uniqueness. In addition to exhibitions in Berlin, the works of art are also presented at numerous and varied national and international art fairs. The gallery has showrooms in New York, Paris, Berlin, and Zhuhai.

For this competition, artists are encouraged to submit their artwork on any subject, demonstrating their skill and vision. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location of the artwork in the US only (please see artwork delivery and shipment requirements) or level of experience, are encouraged to submit their best inspired work. The artist retains all copyrights to their artwork without exception.

Deadline for Entries: May 24, 2023

Exhibition dates: June 7-9, 2023

The dates are subject to change due to availability of the exhibition space owned by a third party. In such case, the exhibition will take place no later than August 31st, 2023

Entry Fee: $25 for up to 3 artworks

Payment is required at the time of entry.

 

ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

 

How to submit:

  1. Make a payment using PayPal button and provide:
  • Title of your artwork
  • Description and Brief bio
  • Upload Image of your artwork in line with the requirements

 

Image and labeling:

File name include last and first name of the artist, medium, title, size of the artwork.

Example: Last Name_First name_Title_Medium_20x30.jpg.

 

Acceptable Mediums: 

Painting, drawing, pastels, inks, pencil, encaustic, photography, mixed media, digital art, installation, sculpture.

 

Size and other restrictions:

Works on canvas: no more than 5 ft by 5 ft

Sculpture/ installation: weighs no more than 30 lbs, dimensions are no more than 3 ft by 3 ft

Photography/ digital art: must be printed in high quality and framed by the artist before the show

Works on paper: must be framed by the artist before the show.

As a rule: No nudity, (private parts must be covered) profanity and controversially political artwork will not be accepted.

 

Other requirements:

The artist must provide a short bio and description of their creative practice, technique and inspiration.

 

Artwork delivery information:

The artwork must be delivered or shipped to the gallery’s New York office no later than June 5th, 2023. The exact address will be shared with selected participants. Any packing and shipping costs to the office and back to the artist must be covered by the artist.

 

Sales:

All artwork must be available for sale. The sale prices for the selected artwork will be agreed upon with the gallery prior to the show. The gallery will receive a 50% commission from the agreed sale price. The gallery will process the payments from the buyers and transfer the 50% owed to the artist.

 

Notification of acceptance:

The artwork submitted will be selected based on the overall quality and artistic composition. The notification will be sent via email. If the artist does not reply by May 31st, 2023 the gallery reserves the right to contact the other artist who submitted their artwork to the competition. All artists whose artwork did not get selected, wil receive notification via email.

 

Awards:

Winning artists will be selected for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize. A digital award certificate will be provided after the show.

The 1st prize will receive a free consultation on their portfolio, CV, website and social media, as well as suggestions on future professional steps to take.

2nd prize will receive the review of the portfolio, and CV.

3rd prize will receive a review of their website and social media.

The winners will be promoted on the website, and through the gallery’s extensive social media outlets. Every participant will receive a digital certificate.
